The Accord Party candidate for the 2023 Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency election, Engr. (Dr.) David Olusegun Okanlawon (DOO), flagged off his campaign on Friday 7th October, 2022 by commissioning the first of nine (9) motorized boreholes he is sinking across Ibarapa land and donation of football kits to the eight (8) football teams that will participate in the forthcoming 4th annual Ibarapa Unity Cup Sports Fiesta organized by the Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation (OOF).

The flag off event was gracefully attended by the Oyo State Accord Gubernatorial candidate, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu alongside Oyo South Senator hopeful, Hon Kolapo Kola Daisi and also Hon Olusola Omiyale the House of Assembly candidate in Ibarapa Central/North state constituency, alongside party dignitaries. The program was held at Teacher’s Plaza, Igboora after which attendees went in procession to Idere, at the family residence of Engr. Okanlawon where the motorized borehole was commissioned by Oloye Adebayo Adelabu (Penkelemesi). The project was dedicated to Idere community in loving memory of Pa, Emmanuel Ishola Okanlawon, DOO’s grandfather. The borehole was commissioned with a dedicated brand new generator.

While commissioning the Project, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu Penkelemesi thanked Okanlawon for being insightful and considerate to have set up such a project.

In his characteristic development-focussed manner, Engr. Okanlawon reiterated his desire to champion the development and transformation of Ibarapa if given the opportunity. In his words, “These borehole projects are just some efforts to arrest the drudgery faced by our people, especially during dry season.”

He noted that a situation where residents of the constituency (mostly women and children) would trek miles to fetch water is unacceptable in a world where access to clean and healthy water is a Sustainable Development Goal. “It is unfortunate that dwellers of our farm settlements drink water from the same dirty lakes with their domestic animals,” he continued.

Okanlawon concluded that “the borehole projects are like testing microphones” when compared to the sustainable developmental music that will be sung across the constituency as a result of his representation at the Federal House of Representatives.

He requested the support of all and sundry as he seeks the constituency’s representation mandate in the forthcoming 2023 general election.

“We are most grateful to our party members and our co-constituents for their generous show of love to DOO. Despite the heavy rains, our people stood solidly with us throughout the event. This can only be a result of your belief in his agenda for our constituency. Indeed, it is a new day in Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency” said Okanlawon

Oloye Adebayo Adelabu Penkelemesi conducted a constituency assessment tour, to be intimately aware of the state of affairs of Ibarapa Central/North Constituency as we vote accordingly in 2023.
